CEAT Unveils New Truck Bus Radial Production Line at Chennai Plant

CEAT, one of India’s top tyre manufacturers, has officially launched its advanced Truck Bus Radial (TBR) production line at its state-of-the-art Chennai plant. This new line is set to gradually scale up to a production capacity of 1,500 tyres per day over the next year, marking a pivotal step in CEAT’s global expansion strategy. The TBR line is designed to bolster CEAT’s presence in both domestic and international markets, while also complementing the company’s existing production of Passenger Car Radial (PCR) and Motorcycle Radial (MCR/MCS) tyres.

This development positions CEAT to cater to the growing demand for high-performance vehicles across India, Europe, and the US, all while upholding its core values of safety, sustainability, and digital innovation.

Strategic Expansion to Boost Global Reach

Arnab Banerjee, Managing Director & CEO of CEAT, emphasized the significance of the new TBR line in strengthening the company’s foothold in international markets: “The inauguration of the Truck Bus Radial line at our export-centric Chennai facility is a key move in CEAT’s mission to offer a comprehensive range of tyres globally. The Chennai plant, located in Sriperumbudur and spanning 160 acres, is a flagship of CEAT’s global operations. We’ve relied on in-house development of key equipment, maximizing domestic expertise to efficiently manage costs and timelines.”

CEAT’s Chennai facility is a recognized leader in the tyre manufacturing industry, thanks to its innovative approach to employee safety and sustainability. The plant has earned prestigious accolades, including the British Safety Council’s 5-Star Award and the Sword of Honour, reflecting its dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards.

In addition to its safety initiatives, the Chennai plant is also a sustainability frontrunner. The facility boasts 25% green cover and currently sources 40% of its energy from renewable resources, including a 5 MW solar rooftop installation. CEAT aims to increase its renewable energy usage to 50% by 2025. The plant also operates as a zero liquid discharge facility, reinforcing the company’s commitment to minimizing its environmental impact.
