Bonn: DHL Supply Chain and iglo Deutschland have announced the extension of their long-standing logistics partnership for another five years, reinforcing a collaboration that has already spanned over two decades.

Under the renewed agreement, DHL Supply Chain will continue to oversee end-to-end logistics operations for iglo in Germany. This includes managing the central frozen food warehouse and in-plant logistics at the Reken facility in Westphalia, along with handling nationwide transport operations. The partnership plays a critical role in ensuring the consistent and timely supply of frozen food products to retailers and consumers.

A 25-Year-Old Partnership Evolves

The collaboration between the two companies dates back more than 25 years. What initially began as a regional distribution setup has gradually evolved into a fully integrated logistics partnership.

Since 2021, DHL has been exclusively responsible for on-site logistics at iglo’s central warehouse in Reken, which acts as the primary distribution hub for most of the company’s products across Germany. From this facility, DHL ensures seamless movement of goods from production to retail shelves, maintaining strict quality and efficiency standards.

Focus on Efficiency and Sustainability

Katrin Hölter, CEO Germany & Alps at DHL Supply Chain, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating that both companies are committed to delivering reliable, high-quality logistics solutions while continuously improving operational efficiency.

Markus Schade, Business Unit Director Transport at DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps, highlighted the growing focus on sustainability. He noted that the company is increasingly deploying low-emission transport technologies such as electric trailers, alternative drive systems, and trucks powered by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and HVO100 biodiesel. These initiatives are aimed at reducing carbon emissions and advancing greener logistics practices.

Strengthening Future-Ready Supply Chains

Volker Büttel, CEO of iglo Deutschland, described DHL as a trusted logistics partner that consistently delivers high service standards. He added that extending the partnership aligns with iglo’s goal of further modernizing its supply chain and making it future-ready.

Looking ahead, both companies plan to continue optimizing logistics processes to improve flexibility, efficiency, and environmental performance. The extended agreement is expected to enhance supply chain resilience for the food retail sector while contributing to a more sustainable frozen food ecosystem in Germany.
