Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has introduced its latest line of BharatBenz heavy-duty rigid trucks in India. These next-generation vehicles are powered by the new BharatBenz BSVI-Stage2 6.7-litre diesel engine, specifically engineered to enhance reliability and fuel efficiency. This new range includes a variety of models designed for versatile payload applications, such as bitumen, bulkers, petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL), alongside existing ones. The trucks come equipped with two engine options, offering either 250HP and 950Nm or 306HP and 1200Nm, depending on the specific needs of customers.
The available configurations for these BharatBenz heavy-duty trucks include the 2826R (6×2), 3526R (8×2), 3832R (8×2), 4232R (10×2), and 4832R (10×2), offering a broad selection tailored to various industry requirements.
Superior Performance and Cost Efficiency At the launch event, Mr. Sreeram Venkateswaran, President & Chief Business Officer of DICV, emphasized that these trucks are designed to meet the evolving demands of India’s transportation sector. “Our new BharatBenz Rigids are built to be dependable partners for businesses navigating complex logistics,” he said. “With the all-new 6D26 engine, the trucks deliver superior fuel efficiency and operational flexibility, reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) for customers. Additionally, the enhanced engine design allows for high torque at lower speeds, improving acceleration and ensuring a smooth driving experience, even under heavy loads.”
Improved Fuel Efficiency with Advanced Features Fuel economy has been a major focus in the design of the new BharatBenz rigid trucks. Equipped with the EFFI+ package and multi-drive mode capabilities, these trucks offer substantial fuel-saving innovations. The Minimal Parked Regeneration system minimizes fuel consumption during idle periods, while Auto Green Band ensures the engine runs at optimal RPM for efficiency. The Auto Idling Shutdown feature cuts off the engine during extended idling, and Harsh Acceleration Control prevents unnecessary fuel wastage. The multi-drive mode further enhances fuel efficiency by allowing drivers to switch between different driving modes based on load conditions, making the truck more adaptable to varied operating conditions.
Innovative Chassis for Diverse Applications The newly developed joggle frame chassis with riveted joints provides the trucks with the robustness needed to handle a wide array of applications, from bitumen transport to petroleum and bulk cargo. This advanced chassis design, combined with parabolic-type grease-free suspension, ensures the trucks can handle demanding operational environments while maintaining durability and driver comfort.
10 Lakh km AMC for Long-Term Reliability To ensure long-term operational reliability, DICV offers an attractive 10 lakh km Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC). This contract underscores DICV’s confidence in the trucks’ durability and its commitment to lowering customers’ overall operating costs.
Industry-Leading Safety Features Safety remains a top priority in the new BharatBenz range. The trucks comply with EU ECE R29-02 cabin safety standards and feature aerodynamically designed air-conditioned cabins to maintain momentum on long hauls. Equipped with advanced driver monitoring systems, the trucks employ AI and computer vision to help prevent driver distraction and fatigue. Additionally, the trucks come with a more powerful engine brake system that improves braking efficiency by 28%, along with reverse cameras for safer maneuvering.
