As per the official statement from Honda, the New Mid-Size SUV ‘Elevate’ to Debut Worldwide Next Month in India, Catering to Growing Global Demand for SUVs
Honda has announced that its upcoming midsize SUV in India will be called the ‘Elevate’. The SUV is set to make its global debut on June 6th in India, followed by a market launch in August 2023. The Honda Elevate will be a completely new SUV, built from the ground up, that will initially go on sale in India before being exported to other markets worldwide.
Power
The new SUV is expected to measure around 4.2-4.3 meters in length, placing it in the midsize SUV segment. It will share its platform with the fifth-generation City sedan, which is already sold in India. As such, the powertrain will also be shared, featuring a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 121hp and 145Nm of torque. The transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a CVT.
While the petrol engine is expected to be the only option at launch, a hybrid powertrain from the City could be added to the lineup later on. However, there will be no diesel engine option for the Elevate. The Honda Elevate has already been spotted testing on Indian roads, albeit heavily camouflaged. Despite this, the SUV is expected to continue with design cues from Honda’s global lineup of SUVs, drawing inspiration from models like the BR-V and HR-V.
Pricing
As previously mentioned, the price of the Honda Elevate SUV will be announced by August 2023, with expectations of a premium price point compared to its rivals. It is expected to fall within the range of Rs 12 lakh to Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom). The company plans to produce up to 8,000 units of the Elevate per month in India, with a significant portion intended for export markets.
As the global debut of the Elevate draws closer, more details are likely to be revealed about the features and specifications of the SUV. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
Overall, the Honda Elevate is poised to enter the highly competitive midsize SUV segment in India, catering to the growing demand for SUVs both in India and globally. With its strong brand reputation and the anticipated success of the Elevate, Honda is expected to strengthen its presence in the Indian market even further.
