In a bold move that marks a new era in luxury mobility and corporate evolution, MG Group, one of India’s leading privately-owned bus and coach manufacturers, has launched TIGRA—an in-house developed super-premium intercity coach platform—and unveiled its new corporate and brand identity. Both announcements were made at the company’s flagship event RE: BORN, held at The Royal Senate, Palace Grounds in Bengaluru.
TIGRA is designed to redefine intercity travel standards with cutting-edge design, world-class comfort, and top-tier safety features, while MG’s rebranding signals a strategic transformation from a high-volume body builder to a product-led mobility solutions brand.

Introducing TIGRA: A New Benchmark in Luxury Coaches

Manufactured at MG Group’s advanced facility in Belagavi, Karnataka, TIGRA is a fully engineered intercity coach platform available across all 13.5-metre chassis variants for domestic and global markets. From plush interiors to signature styling, every element of TIGRA reflects MG’s deep engineering roots and commitment to elevating passenger experience.

Key Features of TIGRA:

  • ABS-Moulded Interiors: Seamless finishes with no sharp edges or visible fasteners
  • Ambient Lighting & Premium Upholstery: Elevating comfort and aesthetics
  • Distinctive Daytime Running Lights (DRLs): Full-length signature design with a heartbeat-inspired light strip
  • PU-Moulded Assistance Handles: Added safety and convenience for passengers
  • Enhanced Production Line: Significant investment in tooling and quality systems to support next-gen coach platforms

“TIGRA is not just another coach—it’s a statement,” said Mr. Sivakumar V., President – Strategy & Sales, MG Group. “It reflects everything MG stands for: precision, comfort, and a deep understanding of evolving transportation needs.”
A New Brand Identity, A Renewed Vision

Coinciding with the launch of TIGRA, MG Group also revealed a revitalized brand identity, commemorating a decade of progress in the premium coach space. The new logo, characterized by a seamless ‘M to G’ flow within a hexagonal form, symbolizes both continuity and strength—reinforcing the brand’s journey from concept to customer.

According to Mr. Anil Mohan Kamat, Chairman & Managing Director, “This brand refresh marks a pivotal shift for MG. We are moving from the background as a trusted OEM partner to taking center stage as an independent brand with premium, forward-looking offerings.”

The updated brand language supports MG’s repositioning as a mobility innovator—backed by four decades of legacy and the delivery of over 1,25,000 bus bodies across applications such as intercity, luxury, school, staff, and defence.
Strategic Shift: From Contract Manufacturer to Design-Led Brand

With an extensive footprint in design, prototyping, electricals, composites, and production, MG Group’s transition to a brand-first approach is backed by robust operational infrastructure and engineering credibility.

“We’re ushering in an era that is bold, human, and global in vision,” said Mr. Gireesha Prabhu, Chief Operating Officer. “TIGRA is the face of this change—a vehicle that’s as much about technology and performance as it is about identity and aspirations.”

The move is also expected to enhance MG’s customer visibility, build long-term brand equity, and support its ambitions across both Indian and international mobility markets.

Pan-India Service Network to Support Future Growth

Alongside its design and manufacturing prowess, MG Group continues to invest in a robust after-sales service network. With service points strategically located across India, the company ensures quick turnaround support and reliable maintenance solutions for its ever-expanding customer base.

As the mobility sector rapidly evolves with growing demand for premium, sustainable, and comfortable intercity transportation, MG Group—with its bold new direction—is well-positioned to lead from the front.

Conclusion: A New Chapter in Indian Bus Manufacturing

The simultaneous launch of TIGRA and MG’s new brand identity signals a strategic inflection point. With a clear focus on design leadership, brand-led growth, and next-gen engineering, MG Group is not just adapting to the future of mobility—it’s shaping it.
