In a significant push towards sustainable urban transportation in Gujarat, PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has delivered 22 new electric buses to Rajkot, further enhancing the city’s eco-friendly public transport system. The buses were officially flagged off by notable dignitaries, including former Mayor Pradeep Dav, RMC Chairman Jamin Thakar, BJP President Mukesh Doshi, and Deputy Municipal Commissioner Swapnil Khare.
With these additions, Rajkot’s smart city project will now have a fleet of 109 electric, air-conditioned buses. The newly launched 33-seater buses feature semi-low floors, providing easy accessibility for passengers with special needs. Designed for comfort and safety, these buses offer a reliable transport option for both locals and tourists, while also reducing the city’s carbon footprint.
Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “We are proud to be a part of Rajkot’s journey toward greener, smarter public transport. The inauguration of the Gondal Charging Station, along with the launch of the electric buses, marks a significant milestone in our collective efforts towards safer, cleaner, and more sustainable mobility. This is a key step in supporting India’s Net Zero mission.”
The Gondal Charging Station, which was also inaugurated at the event, is equipped with five 240 kW GBT chargers, ensuring that the buses are always ready for 24/7 operation. With maintenance and service support available round-the-clock, these stations will help maintain high uptime for the fleet.
As part of the state’s zero-carbon public mobility initiative, the newly launched electric buses are expected to reduce over 650 tons of CO2 emissions in their first year of operation. These zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) are powered by fast-charging lithium-ion batteries and come equipped with a range of advanced features, including a Real-Time Passenger Information System (PIS), panic buttons, Vehicle Location & Tracking System, CCTV cameras, and Fire Detection & Alarm System. The driver’s dashboard has also been ergonomically designed to enhance focus and minimize distractions.
By partnering with Gujarat’s push for sustainable public transport, PMI Electro Mobility is aligning itself with global efforts to combat climate change. The delivery of these buses marks a critical step towards building a greener, more sustainable future for the region.
The flag-off event witnessed the presence of government officials, industry leaders, and senior executives from PMI Electro Mobility, further highlighting the importance of the initiative in Rajkot’s public transport evolution.
