Schmitz Cargobull to Unveil Cutting-Edge Transport Solutions at IAA 2024

For the upcoming IAA 2024, Schmitz Cargobull is gearing up to demonstrate innovative transport solutions aimed at enhancing fleet efficiency and reducing operational costs under the theme “Delivering Performance.” The company provided a sneak peek of its new offerings during a pre-IAA press event held at its Vreden production facility in June 2024. Here, several advanced products were introduced to industry journalists.

Schmitz Cargobull’s integrated approach offers customers a comprehensive range of vehicle and service solutions, presenting a one-stop-shop for optimizing transport performance. These solutions are designed to ensure dependable transportation of goods and data, increase operational reliability, and extend vehicle uptime. By improving transparency within the logistics chain and enabling smarter transport planning, these innovations contribute to more fuel-efficient, eco-friendly road transport.

Production Excellence and Expertise

At the Vreden plant, over 2,000 workers manufacture refrigerated box trailers used for both temperature-controlled and dry freight transport. The site also produces Schmitz Cargobull’s S.CU transport refrigeration units. This production hub has been recognized for its innovative manufacturing techniques and state-of-the-art products. To expand capacity and maintain high quality, the facility is undergoing significant investment. A new 4,500-square-meter assembly hall equipped with automated production systems is being constructed. Once completed, the plant will be able to manufacture up to 80 refrigerated units daily, operating on a two-shift schedule.

In addition to factory expansion, Schmitz Cargobull is enhancing its “Cargobull Event Campus,” a multi-purpose venue next to the factory that will host events and training programs.

A short distance away from the main production site, the Vreden-Gaxel facility houses the production of the S.CU transport refrigeration units. Operated by Schmitz Cargobull’s subsidiary, Cargobull Cool GmbH & Co. KG, this facility has been in operation since 2012, with a team of around 100 employees. The plant develops both conventional and electric cooling units for Schmitz Cargobull’s refrigerated trailers, with more than 20% of these trailers equipped with the company’s proprietary S.CU units.
