Partnering with Exponent Energy, Veera Vahana introduces the world’s first 13.5m two-axle electric bus, powered by rapid charging technology.

Veera Vahana, a key player in the bus manufacturing sector, has teamed up with Exponent Energy, a pioneering energy-tech firm, to launch the Veera Mahasamrat EV, a groundbreaking electric bus capable of charging in just 15 minutes. Touted as the first 13.5-meter, two-axle electric intercity bus, this innovative vehicle comes equipped with Exponent’s cutting-edge 320 kWh battery pack. The bus promises an extended, virtually limitless range, thanks to the convenience of rapid charging through Exponent’s robust 1MW charging network.

Quick Charging with Extended Battery Life

The Veera Mahasamrat EV not only leads in rapid charging but also offers a solid battery warranty of 6,00,000 km or 3,000 life cycles. This advanced battery solution is a game changer for long-haul routes, offering more flexible financing options and greater ease of ownership for fleet operators. The fast-charging capability ensures that bus operators no longer have to worry about long downtimes.

Pioneering Long-Haul Electric Travel

K. Srinivas Reddy, Managing Director of Veera Vahana, emphasized the game-changing nature of the partnership, saying, “Electric buses have typically been confined to short routes due to range and charging limitations. With the Veera Mahasamrat EV, we can now match the charging experience of a traditional diesel bus. In just 15-20 minutes, operators can recharge and get back on the road, eliminating the previous concerns of long charging waits. Our partnership with Exponent Energy makes this possible, paving the way for electric buses to dominate long-haul travel.”

Exponent Energy’s Commitment to Electrifying India

Arun Vinayak, Co-founder & CEO of Exponent Energy, shared his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “We’re proud to partner with Veera Vahana and bring our technology to revolutionize India’s intercity bus segment. After Tesla and Siemens, we are thrilled to have developed the world’s third 1MW charging technology, designed specifically for India’s needs. Our 15-minute rapid charging and extensive network are the key to enabling long-distance electric travel across the country.”

Driving Down Operating Costs for Fleet Owners

The Veera Mahasamrat EV is not only an eco-friendly alternative but also offers significant cost savings for fleet operators, reducing operating expenses by up to 30% compared to traditional diesel buses. With a reliable 15-minute rapid charging system and a well-positioned Exponent Energy network along highways, bus operators can seamlessly transition to electric power without sacrificing efficiency or worrying about range limitations.

Bengaluru-Hyderabad Route First to Electrify

The partnership is currently focused on electrifying the Bengaluru-Hyderabad route, with Exponent Energy setting up four 1MW charging stations—two at the endpoints and two along the highway. This strategic placement ensures bus operators can maintain their regular stops and minimize downtime during their journey, making the switch from internal combustion engines (ICE) to electric vehicles (EV) effortless.

Advanced Technology for Peak Performance

Exponent Energy’s innovative battery management system (BMS) and proprietary charging algorithms ensure the Veera Mahasamrat EV delivers consistent high performance. An advanced thermal management system helps regulate the battery’s temperature, even in extreme conditions, maintaining peak efficiency at ambient temperatures up to 50°C.

Shaping the Future of Electric Mobility

With a clear commitment to sustainability and innovation, Veera Vahana and Exponent Energy are redefining the future of mobility. Their shared vision to drive the adoption of long-haul electric buses will not only revolutionize the transportation sector but also help pave the way for a cleaner, greener future in India’s intercity travel landscape.
