JK Tyre & Industries, India’s leading tyre manufacturer, has taken a major step towards sustainability by joining RE100, committing to sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2050. This move reinforces the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices.
A Pioneer in Sustainability
JK Tyre is the first Indian tyre manufacturer and the 16th Indian business to join RE100, a global initiative that unites influential companies in adopting 100% renewable electricity. By FY’30, the company aims to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission intensity by 50%, compared to its FY2019 baseline.
This milestone reflects JK Tyre’s strategy of preparing for future climate regulations and going “Beyond Compliance”, setting a benchmark for the industry to follow.

Achievements in Sustainability
JK Tyre’s sustainability milestones include:
- 64% reduction in GHG Emission Intensity since FY 2013-14.
- Achieving 40% renewable energy usage across its manufacturing facilities.
- Setting a global benchmark in raw water usage and achieving Zero Liquid Discharge and Zero-Waste-to-Landfill at all facilities.
- Eliminating single-use plastic in operations.
The company’s objective is to incrementally increase renewable energy usage by 2-5% annually, further supporting its vision of becoming a carbon-neutral business.
