MANN+HUMMEL, a global leader in filtration technology, has inaugurated its new Global Technology & Innovation Center in Tumkur, Karnataka, marking a major milestone in the company’s global innovation and growth strategy. The facility becomes MANN+HUMMEL’s largest development center outside Germany and further strengthens India’s position as a key hub for engineering excellence, research, and advanced filtration technologies.

The new center has been established to accelerate product development, strengthen customer-focused innovation, and enhance collaboration across global markets. Equipped with advanced laboratories, testing facilities, digital engineering capabilities, and data analytics infrastructure, the facility will serve as a central innovation hub supporting the company’s mobility, industrial, air filtration, and water purification businesses.

India Emerges as a Strategic Innovation Hub

The Tumkur facility is designed to bring together research, engineering, validation, and digital development under one roof, enabling faster product development cycles and improved responsiveness to customer requirements worldwide.

By leveraging India’s deep engineering talent pool, the center will support the development of next-generation filtration technologies while enhancing collaboration between global teams and customers.

Speaking on the occasion, Hasmeet Kaur, President – Transportation Division, MANN+HUMMEL Group, highlighted the strategic importance of the new facility.

“The new Global Technology & Innovation Center in India marks a significant milestone in MANN+HUMMEL’s global innovation journey. India stands at the forefront of engineering talent and technological advancement, making it a natural choice for our largest development hub outside Germany. This center will not only accelerate our innovation capabilities but also enable us to deliver scalable, sustainable filtration solutions to customers worldwide. It reflects our long-term commitment to shaping a cleaner and healthier future through technology,” she said.

Supporting Sustainable Filtration Technologies

The innovation center will play a key role in advancing MANN+HUMMEL’s sustainability objectives by focusing on energy-efficient filtration systems, lower lifecycle emissions, and circular economy initiatives.

The company said future development efforts will include the increased use of recycled materials, eco-friendly product design principles, and technologies aimed at improving air quality, water purification, industrial emissions control, and access to clean water.

These initiatives align with the company’s global sustainability strategy and growing demand for environmentally responsible filtration solutions across industries.

New Pune Facility to Strengthen Manufacturing Capabilities

Alongside the launch of the Tumkur innovation center, MANN+HUMMEL also announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in Pune, further expanding its operational footprint in India.

The proposed facility will support both existing and new customers across key sectors, including passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, heavy-duty on-road and off-road applications, industrial equipment, and manufacturing industries.

The fully integrated manufacturing setup is expected to enhance localization, improve responsiveness, and strengthen the company’s ability to deliver advanced filtration solutions at scale.

Investment to Exceed ₹100 Crore

The combined investment in the Tumkur Global Technology & Innovation Center and the upcoming Pune manufacturing facility is expected to exceed ₹100 crore.

The company currently employs approximately 1,250 people across its India operations and expects to generate an additional 300 to 400 employment opportunities over the next 12 months as part of its expansion plans.

Commenting on the development, Sudeesh Karimbingal, Managing Director, MANN+HUMMEL India, said the investment reflects India’s growing role within the company’s global operations.

“The new facility in Tumkur is a testament to India’s growing role as a strategic growth and engineering powerhouse for MANN+HUMMEL globally. For over 20 years, our Indian engineering team has been deeply embedded in our global product development. This center transitions India from a support hub to a strategic engineering powerhouse, driving innovation that meets both local and global market needs,” he said.

Strengthening Pan-India Presence

With existing manufacturing operations in Tumkur and Bawal, along with its Global Technology & Innovation Center in Bengaluru, the planned Pune facility will establish MANN+HUMMEL’s third manufacturing footprint in India.

The expanded network will provide stronger regional coverage, improve supply chain responsiveness, and position the company closer to customers across western, northern, and southern India.

India remains one of MANN+HUMMEL’s fastest-growing markets and a critical innovation center, accounting for more than one-third of the company’s global R&D workforce. Through continued investments in technology, manufacturing, and talent development, the company aims to accelerate innovation, shorten time-to-market, and strengthen its leadership in advanced filtration solutions worldwide.
