Noida-Jewar Region Set to Deploy 500 Electric Buses Ahead of Airport Operations

The Uttar Pradesh government is accelerating efforts to strengthen public transportation infrastructure in the Noida-Jewar region ahead of the commencement of operations at Noida International Airport. As part of the plan, 500 electric buses will be introduced across Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) region to enhance sustainable mobility and airport connectivity.

Chairing the fourth meeting of the State Transformation Commission, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure that public transport services are fully prepared before flight operations begin at the upcoming airport.

In the first phase, 110 electric buses will be deployed to provide seamless connectivity to Noida International Airport, improving passenger access while supporting the state’s clean mobility objectives.

“The public transport system should be fully strengthened before the proposed flight operations begin,” the Chief Minister said while reviewing progress on the electric bus deployment programme.

Uttar Pradesh Expands EV Charging Infrastructure

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also reviewed the state’s electric vehicle ecosystem and stressed the need to accelerate charging infrastructure development.

Officials informed that approximately 15.5 lakh electric vehicles are currently registered across Uttar Pradesh. To support future growth, the state has set a target of establishing 10,000 EV charging stations by 2030. Around 2,500 charging stations have already become operational.

The planned expansion of charging infrastructure is expected to support the growing adoption of electric buses, commercial vehicles and passenger EVs across the state.

Expressway Projects Receive Fresh Push

Reviewing several strategic expressway projects, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of connectivity in driving industrial growth, investments and employment generation.

Officials informed that nearly 55 percent of the land required for the Farrukhabad Link Expressway has already been acquired. The Chief Minister directed authorities to complete land acquisition activities for the Agra-Lucknow-Purvanchal Link Expressway, Jewar Link Expressway and Jhansi Link Expressway by the end of June.

The government also confirmed that the alignment for the Meerut-Haridwar Expressway has been approved and preparations for land acquisition are currently underway.

Focus on Logistics and Industrial Infrastructure

The meeting also reviewed progress on key logistics infrastructure projects intended to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s industrial ecosystem.

Officials reported that possession has been secured for 301 hectares of the 323 hectares required for the proposed Multi Modal Logistic Hub. The deadline for developer selection bids has been extended until July 6, 2026.

Similarly, 144 hectares of land have already been made available for the proposed Multi Modal Transport Hub, while acquisition of the remaining land is in progress.

The Chief Minister emphasised that investment-related projects should be implemented without unnecessary delays and directed officials to maintain continuous engagement with investors.

Seed Park, Textile Park and Defence Corridor Projects Advance

Reviewing proposed Seed Park and Textile Park developments in Lucknow, the Chief Minister directed officials to fast-track implementation by integrating the projects with the state’s agricultural and industrial development strategies.

Officials informed that discussions with international institutions and major seed companies have already been conducted and a roadmap for further action has been agreed upon.

The meeting also reviewed projects under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor initiative. Officials informed that Icons Hindustan Aerospace and Defence Systems Private Limited has proposed an investment of Rs 125 crore at the Aligarh Defence Node. The proposal has received recommendations from both the Technical Evaluation Committee and the Land Allotment Committee.

Agri Export Hub Near Jewar Airport Gains Momentum

The state government is also advancing plans for an Agriculture Export Hub near Noida International Airport to strengthen export opportunities for agricultural products.

According to officials, 29 acres of the required 50 acres of land have already been identified for the project.

Similarly, 60 acres of land have been earmarked for the proposed Aqua Bridge project in Unnao, which will include fish processing, feed manufacturing, packaging and export-oriented facilities.

Enhanced Monitoring of Priority Projects

Reviewing various government initiatives, including the Chief Minister Yuva Udyami Yojana and projects proposed under the Urban Challenge Fund, the Chief Minister called for faster implementation and improved support for entrepreneurship and urban infrastructure development.

He also directed that all projects monitored under the CM Samiksha review framework be accorded top priority. To ensure closer oversight, a dedicated monitoring cell will be established within the Chief Minister’s Office.
